Need for Infidelity DNA Testing

Have you been suspicious about your partner’s behavior or finding objects in the house that don’t belong to either of you? Is it a stain on the bedsheet or on your partner’s undergarments, a hair strand that is not yours for sure? Is it a lip stain on your partner’s clothes, a completely different undergarment, a condom that’s definitely not used by you. These may indicate that your spouse or partner may be cheating on you, or involved in an extramarital affair. Now, this can be a distressing situation, as your trust and a whole lot of emotions are now on the stake.

So what can you do?

You can go for an Infidelity DNA Test along with a Semen Detection Test for suspicious stains on fabrics and other such objects. Such a test can help you regain your peace of mind and confidence in your partner.

These are the most common sample types used for infidelity testing.
However, you can also discuss with us, if you have an unconventional or a different sample than the ones mentioned above.

Types of Infidelity DNA Tests

You can get the Infidelity Testing in the following two configurations:

  • Semen Detection
  • DNA Detection for Infidelity

Semen Detection

In case you have a smeared or stained object suspected to be from a different person, you can get a Semen Detection Test first. Here’s why:

When still wet or dried, both semen and nasal stains may look or feel the same. Moreover, it cannot tell if it is from a person who your partner may be cheating with behind your back. It can, as well, be your partner’s. Therefore, you get a Semen Detection Test first which will have one of the following outcomes:

  • Positive: Semen detected
  • Negative: Semen not detected

In short, getting a Semen Detection Test first confirms if the stain is from semen or nasal discharge. At this step, half of your doubt would be cleared and you can proceed with the DNA Detection Test for Infidelity.

DNA Detection Test for Infidelity:

Once it’s confirmed that the stain is from semen, then you go for the DNA Detection Test to find out if it’s from you or your partner or from a different person.

The DNA Detection is done by performing a Viability testing. This step confirms if usable DNA is present in the specimen and how many DNA profiles are there in the specimen. Here’s what possible DNA Profiles you may get in this step:

  1. Single DNA Profile: If a single DNA profile is detected, the test will reveal whether it belongs to a male or female. To determine the source, you would require a reference DNA sample of the person in question. Say, you are a male and find a stained tissue paper, the test will compare the DNA in the specimen to your own reference sample. If the resulting DNA profile matches yours, it confirms that the stain came from your own semen.
  2. Multiple DNA Profiles: If multiple DNA profiles are found, it indicates that the specimen contains DNA from different individuals. This could be a mixture of male and female profiles, or multiple male or multiple female profiles. If the male finds that the male DNA profile doesn’t match his own profile, it suggests that the semen found in the specimen belongs to someone else. Therefore, in this scenario, the male/husband would need the female partner’s DNA sample to confirm if her DNA profile is present in the specimen, indicating potential infidelity.
